Following the destruction of the Death Star, the Galactic Empire has retaliated by driving the Rebel Alliance into hiding. The story opens on the ice planet Hoth, where the Rebels have established a secret base. After a devastating Imperial invasion led by Darth Vader and his massive AT-AT walkers, the heroes are forced to scatter across the galaxy.

Luke Skywalker, following a vision from the late Obi-Wan Kenobi, travels to the swamp planet of Dagobah. There, he encounters Yoda, a diminutive but incredibly powerful Jedi Master, who begins Luke’s rigorous training in the ways of the Force. Luke struggles with his impatience and the dark visions of his future, ultimately facing a spiritual test in the "Cave of Evil."

Meanwhile, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca are relentlessly pursued by the Imperial fleet and a group of deadly bounty hunters, including the notorious Boba Fett. They seek refuge in Cloud City on the planet Bespin, ruled by Han's old friend Lando Calrissian. However, they are betrayed and fall into a trap set by Darth Vader. The film reaches its emotional peak during a lightsaber duel between Luke and Vader, culminating in a shocking revelation that shatters Luke’s world and forces him to confront his own identity and the true nature of his lineage.
